Leaving on a jet plane

MARCH 1, 2012.

Well, I'm nearly on my way. Since I left work on February 10th, I been busy packing and running aound getting all the detailed stuff done before I leave. I have a few guys coming to my place Saturday morning to help me move my stuff into storage. Everything else is done except my car has not sold yet. I need to sell it this weekend or it could delay my departure. Anyone interested in a 2006 Jetta TDI for a really good price?

Packing has been a real challenge as I cannot fit everything I want to bring in my pack and I will need quite a diverse selection of clothes when you consider the weather in the Andes and Patagonia compare to the tropics and Amazon basin.

I'm schedued to fly out of Vancouver on March 6 to Cancun. One way flights to Cancun are very inexpensive and I will only be a couple hours away from Belize. I've never been to this part of Mexico and plan to stay for a week or so and check out the beaches, Mayan ruins and other local sites. Then its a bus ride to Belize for 10 days to 2 weeks before heading to Guatemala. I've heard great things about Guatemala so I'm really looking foward to getting there.

After Guatemala, I will be tavelling to El Salvador then into Honduras where I plan to spend some time on an island cay called Utila. I will get my diving certification there and spend some time diving the local reefs. I then will be slowly making my way south through Nicaraugua, Costa Rica and Panama aiming to cross into South America by July. So, if any of my friends are looking for a lttle RR at a beutiful beach in the sun or is interested in trekking up to the top of an active volcano or both, let me know and maybe we can meet somewhere this spring.
